U.K. artists can now release the A-side of a Top 40 single as the B-side on a follow-up, without having to wait for the original track to drop out of the Top 40.

The Official Charts Company and the Chart Supervisory Committee have changed the chart rules, which had become impossible to adhere to now that digital singles can chart without an associated physical format.

As a result of the "Boomerang" singles chart amendment, labels can issue alternative versions of Top 40 singles, as long as those versions have not appeared on a previous chart-eligible formats.
