Universal Music Germany has launched an artist agency.

The new unit -- Universal Music Artist Agency -- enables brand-name firms and event organizers direct access to Universal-signed artists, explains says Frank Briegmann, president and CEO of Berlin-based Universal Music Germany.

UMAA will advise its clients on the choice of artists suited to a particular brand, product or event, and check availability and establish contact with the acts.

"More and more companies are approaching us to put them in touch with artists. The Universal Music Artist Agency will fulfil that need," explains Briegmann. "It will give brands and companies the opportunity to make use of emotional stimulation in marketing their products."

Holger Kurschat has been appointed managing director of UMAA, reporting to Briegmann. He will continue to manage the Universal-signed German pop-singer Jeanette Biedermann.
