Concert-promotion giant AEG Live has opened an office in Stockholm to cover Sweden's live-music sector.

The new unit, AEG Live Sweden, is headed by managing director David Maloney, reporting to London-based AEG Live Europe managing director Rob Hallett.

Maloney was previously head promoter at local rival EMA Telstar, a Swedish subsidiary of Live Nation, which he left Sept. 3.

In a statement, Hallett said: "Sweden is a very important piece of our European strategy as a full service concert company and we feel that the entire industry will benefit from an AEG Live presence in Scandinavia."

Maloney added: "Establishing ourselves in a music nation such as Sweden opens up far more alternatives for artists and audiences."
