U.K. modern rock radio network Xfm is extending its reach, with the launch of its new station in south Wales confirmed for Nov. 29.

The GCap Media-owned network, which already has regional franchises in London, Manchester and Scotland, will broadcast Xfm South Wales on the FM frequency between 106.8 and 107.3. The station will aim to showcase bands from the region and will air from the same site in Cardiff as its sister Top 40 station, Red Dragon.

"Now we have the launch date in place, we are working full steam behind the scenes to give the listeners of south Wales a fantastic launch," said Xfm managing director Nick Davidson, in a statement. "This will be followed up within days by one of the biggest music events the area has ever seen -- Winter Wonderland."

The station's DJ line-up is expected to be announced shortly.

Xfm, which is currently celebrating its 10th anniversary since launching as a London FM-only service, has a total weekly reach of 1.19 million listeners, according to the latest RAJAR figures, with national and international coverage also available via digital radio, digital TV and the Internet.
