Warner Music U.K. has inked a deal with O2 which will allow the mobile network's customers first access to Led Zeppelin's digitized content, plus entry into a prize draw for the rock legends' one-off in London next month.
Through the agreement, unveiled today, O2 customers in the U.K. will have access to exclusively download a string of Zeppelin master ringtones from Oct. 15, until Nov. 12, when the band's entire catalog becomes available digitally for the first time.
The 22 Zeppelin master tones cost £2.50 ($5) and include "Stairway To Heaven," "Dazed And Confused," "All Of My Love," "Black Dog" and "Rock And Roll."
Customers who download a ringtone will be automatically entered into a competition to win one of six tickets to the massively oversubscribed Nov. 26 concert at the O2 Arena in honor of the late Atlantic Records co-founder and chairman emeritus Ahmet Ertegun. Other giveaways tickets for the sound-check performance, a catalog box set, framed artwork, posters, badges and cut-outs.
"In a country that contains some of the group's most fervent fans, both long standing and new," says David Dorn, senior VP of e-commerce, Rhino Entertainment, "we are very pleased to be working with O2 to offer for the first time a range of exciting mobile music experiences created from Led Zeppelin's legendary catalog of recordings."
Sally Cowdry, O2 U.K. marketing director, added, "We have established our music credentials with events such as the O2 Wireless Festival and our partnership with The O2. O2 is truly the music fans' mobile network, so we're delighted to be able to offer our customers exclusive access to this material and a chance to get the hottest tickets of the year".
The digital program coincides with the release of the 24-track, two-CD Atlantic/Rhino compilation "Mothership," which spans the band's 12-year career.
