French guitarist and composer Fred Chichin died this morning (Nov. 28) after a battle with cancer. He was 53.

In 1980, Chichin founded the pop duo Rita Mitsouko with his partner in life Catherine Ringer. Their original and entertaining music built a sizeable audience through the decade, with hits such as "Marcia Baila", "Andy", "Les histoires d'A" and "C'est comme ├ža".
