Casper Bengtson has been named as the successor to Jens-Otto Paludan at Universal Music Denmark.

Bengtson becomes managing director of the Copenhagen-based company, where he is tasked with developing future strategies for domestic and international repertoire, and ramping-up the firm's media and corporate relationships.

"With his experience," comments Vico Antippas, president, Nordic, central and eastern Europe, at Universal Music Group International, "Casper is the perfect leader for this time."

In a statement, Antippas notes, "Our market-leading company in Denmark has a great track record in finding and developing domestic artists, and in effectively marketing Universal Music's international roster."

Antippas, to whom Bengtson reports, added, "Now we want to build even further on that success, creatively and commercially."

Bengtson joins the music major from MTV Networks Denmark, where he has served as country manager since August 2006. Prior to that, he was client service director at the Danish arm of independent media agency Carat, working with such clients as EMI, Dell and Hasbro.

Paludan last month announced he would leave his post as MD of Universal Denmark, with effect from Nov. 16.
