Amsterdam-based Stage Ticketing International has acquired See Tickets, the U.K.'s second largest ticketing group, from Andrew Lloyd Webber's Really Useful Group. The change of ownership will take effect from Jan. 31; terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The acquisition will enable Stage Ticketing to enter the U.K. market, as well as providing new business opportunities for See Tickets in continental Europe, the company said in a statement.

Stage Ticketing International is part of Joop van den Ende's theatre company Stage Entertainment, which also has offices in the U.K., Germany, Italy, France, Russia, Spain and the United States. The ticketing division employs around 1,000 people and the purchase of See Tickets will take its annual ticket sales to an estimated 40 million.

Stage Ticketing International comprises Ticket Online Germany, Poland and Austria; TopTicketLine Germany, Netherlands, France, Spain and Russia; and the Belgian ticketing organization Sherpa.be.

"This acquisition is a major step for Stage Ticketing International and will further strengthen our position in the highly competitive ticketing and live entertainment markets," says Henk Kivits, CEO of Stage Entertainment, in a statement. "These combined activities will benefit our customers and clients and increase our share of the business in the U.K. and Continental Europe."

"After five years of strong growth whilst owned by RUG, we are very pleased to now become part of a major international ticketing organisation," adds Nick Blackburn, managing director of See Tickets, in a statement. "This deal will be the beginning of a new era for the company to expand its knowledge, experience and investment in systems, thus ensuring that we are able to continue to provide the best possible service to our clients and customers and also to create new opportunities for them."
