Gunter Thielen has been confirmed as the new chairman of the Supervisory Board of media conglomerate Bertelsmann AG.

The former Bertelsmann AG chairman and CEO has sat on the supervisory body since Jan. 1 and has now been elected its new chairman in a written ballot.

Thielen succeeds Dieter Vogel, who stepped down at the end of last year after serving as Supervisory Board chairman for a total of 11 years. The first supervisory board meeting chaired by Thielen is scheduled for Jan. 25.
