Chart-topping Japanese female vocalist Kumi Koda is in hot water after saying on a radio program that women should have babies early because once past age 35 they have "rotten" fluid in their uteruses.

The resulting protests caused Koda's label, Tokyo-based Avex Group Holdings, to halt promotional activities for her latest album, "Kingdom," which was released Jan. 30, and major cosmetics company Kose to suspend online advertisements for its Visee brand that featured Koda.

"I sincerely and deeply apologize for offending people with my remark," Koda, 25, said in a statement on her official Web site.
