Mobile music service provider Groove Mobile has bolstered its music catalog after signing a worldwide licensing deal with Indie Mobile.

Works by the likes of Editors, Armand Van Helden, the Pigeon Detectives, Laurent Garnier and Royksopp make up the 70,000 titles of Indie Mobile, the PIAS Entertainment Group's mobile marketing and digital distribution agency.

The deal for Indie Mobile's entire catalog, which was announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, is for multiple mobile content rights including full music tracks, videos and realtones.

"Groove Mobile's dynamic platform will have a tremendous impact on our global reach," says Seth Jackson, managing director of Indie Mobile, in a statement. "We will be able to market full tracks directly to consumers as well as significantly enhance the work we do with bands at live events. We look forward to launching groundbreaking initiatives together in 2008."

The companies will explore direct-to-consumer opportunities at concerts and live events, including free text trigger downloads.

"At Groove Mobile, we have always been focused on the music, and this new agreement with Indie Mobile will bring some of the leading independent artists to our wireless carrier partners around the world," adds Adam Sexton, chief marketing officer for Groove Mobile, in the statement.

Groove Mobile says it has completed 60 million transactions since launching the service in 2004. The company has recently inked distribution deals with Bell Canada, Vodafone, 3 UK, Universal Music Group and Sony BMG.

The service is available in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Europe, and Australasia and provides users with access to music from all the major labels, and leading independents such as the Beggars Group.
