Former Napster U.K. head Leanne Sharman has joined Warner Music International.
In her new role as VP, business development, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Sharman is tasked with duties for developing and implementing the music major's digital and new business strategies across the region.
"We're delighted to be bringing Leanne on board as we continue to transform our company through innovative, wide-ranging partnerships and investments," comments Eric Daugan, VP digital business, EMEA, to whom she reports.
"The breadth of her experience will be invaluable as we evaluate opportunities in music, music-related and wider entertainment sectors, and her proven ability as a dealmaker, coupled with her high-level understanding of new technologies and business models, makes her a great fit for the team," Daugan adds.
Sharman left Napster a year ago, where she served as VP and GM, Napster U.K. She joined the digital music company in January 2004 as VP of business development, its first European executive appointment. Prior to that, she was VP of sales and marketing at now-defunct online music operation MP3.com Europe.
