Chris Brown, the Courteeners, Robyn, the Count and Sinden and Beardyman are among the first acts confirmed to take part in the Nokia Green Room, a new weekly entertainment U.K. TV series due to start April 6.
The 30-minute show will run for 15 weeks, playing twice each weekend during national broadcaster ITV's T4 segment, and as a late night repeat on 4Music. Exclusive tracks and out-takes will be available to Nokia mobile customers and online via the Nokia Music Store (www.music.nokia.co.uk).
Established and breaking acts will be involved in the new format, which combines live music performances and "observational TV," according to organizers. The show has a specially created backstage area with hidden microphones and remote cameras filming the interaction between acts as they wait to perform on stage.
"The Nokia Green Room is a great concept which I'm certain will be a huge success. I'm delighted to be involved in the launch," comments Wells, senior VP, digital for Universal Music Group International.
As previously reported, mobile communications group Nokia has partnered with producers Whizz Kid Entertainment and Channel 4 to launch the program.
Malcolm Gerrie’s Whizz Kid recently secured £2 million ($4 million) in funding from Ingenious Media Active Capital.
