Angel Gambino, global VP, music and content at Bebo, is exiting the social networking service.

Bebo recruited Gambino in April 2007 to drive its music activities. She joined the firm at its London premises from MTV, where she was VP commercial, strategy and digital media.

Speaking today on her departure, Gambino comments, "With the business experiencing massive growth now topping 42 million active users worldwide spending on average 30 minutes per session, and ultimately being sold to AOL, I view my decision to leave Bebo at this time very much as a natural progression of my role and career."

She continues, "I am confident that under Joanna Shields leadership of the newly formed People Networks, bebo will continue to thrive especially with the massive breadth of music, content, communication and publishing tools and other intellectual property that AOL Time Warner brings to this new business."

On joining the firm a year ago, Gambino was entrusted with "helping artists and labels to harness the power of Bebo's base of 31 million users worldwide, enabling them to extend their reach and form one-to-one relationships with their audience."

Bebo has yet to announced Gambino's successor.
