AEG Live U.K. is boosting its portfolio of British festival events with the acquisition of a controlling stake in RockNess Festival, the annual Scottish dance and alternative outdoor event. Financial terms were not disclosed.

"We are very excited to be involved with Rockness," comments Rob Hallett, AEG Live's president of international touring. "It's a great concept in a beautiful location run by excellent operators and we are certain that many of the artists we tour will agree."

This year's edition, at Dores near Inverness, marks the third edition of RockNess. The 2008 bill will run over June 7 and 8, featuring headliners Fatboy Slim, the View, Razorlight and Underworld, complemented by more than 40 acts and DJs.

AEG has promoted a string of superstar U.S. artists in Britain, including Prince, Justin Timberlake and Beyonce. The latest deal, the company suggests, is a natural extension as it sees itself increasinly playing a key role in Britain's busy festivals market.
