U.K. alternative rock act Funeral For A Friend has partnered with specialist investment company Ingenious Media to launch their own label, Join US.

The venture capital trust Ingenious Music VC2 has invested more than £400,000 ($795,00) to fund the recording and release of the Welsh band's new album.

Funeral For A Friend, whose last album "Tales Don't Tell Themselves" (Atlantic) peaked at No. 135 on The Billboard 200 in June 2007 and No. 3 on the U.K. chart in May 2007, has also signed with [PIAS] U.K. division Integral for infrastructure and distribution support for the new label.

Integral specializes in providing facilities to labels, artists and managers who want to release music independently; services include product management, marketing, press and promotion and distribution through [PIAS] UK.

"Funeral For A Friend has already gained worldwide success and have a proven track record with a strong fan base," says Duncan Reid, commercial director of Ingenious, in a statement. "This deal underlines Ingenious' commitment to working with both upcoming and established artists to create a balanced portfolio of musical talent to provide returns to investors."

Join US has been launched with Craig Jennings, the band's manager at Raw Power Management. The company also represents Bullet For My Valentine, Gallows, Lethal Bizzle and Fightstar Jennings describes the agreements as a "great opportunity" and says the band's new album will be launched later this year.

The deal with Integral will give full service support to Join US across all aspects of label management.

In a statement, Peter Thompson, managing director of [PIAS] U.K., says: "Integral are really pleased to be involved with Funeral For A Friend, Ingenious and the Join US label.

"The band has established a substantial and loyal fan base over the years and we are working closely with them and their management to build on this existing success and to help them take things onto the next level."
