Billboard is a media partner for this year's Popkomm, which takes place in Berlin from Oct. 8 to 11.

The program at the 2008 international music and entertainment business trade show includes panel discussions about the role of the recorded music industry in the live music business, mobile music, secondary ticketing and a follow-up to last year's "automative music" topic about how car and device manufacturers can open up new sales channels for music.

As well as the exhibition and conference, Popkomm features an international music showcase. Organizers say that 2,000 acts from 35 countries applied to be part of the 2008 Popkomm Festival, and around 400 artists have been selected to perform, including Mamas Gun and Myriad Creatures (U.K), Vincent Van Go Go (Denmark), United Steel Workers Of Montreal (Canada), Ozark Henry (Belgium) and Martin Kilger (Germany).

DJ Popkomm is held on the final day, Oct. 11, when Berlin's clubs will provide a showcase for German and international DJs.

Last year, the conference had 886 exhibitors from 57 countries and attracted 15,420 visitors. Keynote conference speakers included U.K. singer songwriter Billy Bragg and Mike Batt, head of U.K. indie Dramatico.
