Broadcaster Russian Media Group and the investment and financial group Kapital have launched what they claim to be Russia's largest legitimate online music store, Muz.ru.

RMG says the site will have more than one million tracks available for a-la-carte download by the end of the year.

Tracks from Universal Music, Warner Music and Sony BMG, as well as from several domestic labels, are available for downloading by registered users, with prices of a track ranging from 11 rubles (42 cents) for most domestic acts to 29 rubles ($1.10) for major Western artists.

Investment in Muz.ru has been around $2.5 million to date, and another $2 million will be spent on advertising by the end of the year, RMG said, adding that the project is being launched at a time when legitimate online music sales in Russia are on the rise, gradually taking over a market that used to be dominated by pirates.

RMG said that online radio and television services, as well as sales of concert tickets and mobile content, will be launched at Muz.ru within the next few months.
