Live Nation has signed a three-year deal with Royal Parks to continue to stage major events in London's Hyde Park until 2011.

The new contract will involve the majority of the large-scale events program for Hyde Park.

In the past decade, Live Nation has staged events on the site including Party in the Park, Live 8 and Picnic in the Park as well as shows by Bon Jovi, Shania Twain, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Simon & Garfunkel, Queen & Paul Rodgers and REM. The Live Nation-owned festivals Hard Rock Calling and O2 Wireless have also been held in Hyde Park.

Live Nation secured the arrangement with Royal Parks following a formal tender proposal.

"Hyde Park is a unique venue in the middle of a unique city," said Live Nation festival director John Probyn in a statement. "We intend to continue to bring the very best in music and entertainment to the heart of the community. I am delighted that we can continue to develop shows in Hyde Park and work with the professional agencies who support us such as Royal Parks, Westminster City Council, the Metropolitan Police and our partners."
