Rising star Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu, alternative rock act the Drones and folk-rock singer/songwriter Martha Wainwright are among the artists confirmed to perform at the 2008 AIR Awards, to be held Nov. 24 at Melbourne's Corner Hotel.

Others indie stars confirmed to take part in the third annual awards gala include Lior, the Herd, the Getaway Plan, Grafton Primary and Felicity Urquhart.

Hosts on the night are music TV broadcaster Channel V's presenter Jane Gazzo and Jake Stone, co-frontman with independent act Bluejuice.

As previously reported, multiple nominees at this year's ceremony include Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu, Lior, Little Red, the Getaway Plan, Sneaky Sound System and the Waifs. Drinks brand Jagermeister is sponsor of the third-annual awards gala.

In a change to the format this year, organizers the Australian Independent Record Labels Association is inaugurating the Dotbleep digital conference during the day of its awards event, focusing on online and mobile issues. Speakers include Beggars Group head of digital Simon Wheeler and IODA founder Kevin Arnold.
