Two of Spain's leading indie labels have signed an exclusive digital distribution deal to boost online sales. As a result, the progressive underground-leaning catalog of Subterfuge Records will be placed on the most important online shops in Europe, the United States and Latin America by BOA Digital, the digital division of BOA Music.

The deal was signed by Subterfuge director Carlos Galán and BOA Digital and Music director Fernando Luaces.

This week BOA Music's latest release, "T.O.T.E." by Spanish hip-hop artist Toteking, entered Spain's Media Control charts at No. 9, making it one of BOA's highest ever chart entries.

Among Subterfuge's current signings are rising stars Vanexxa and Krakovia, and their catalog includes artists who were signed by major labels after being discovered by Subterfuge, including Dover, Marlango, Fangoria, Najwajean, Cycle, and Los Fresones Rebeldes.

BOA Digital has accords with digital stores such as iTunes, eMusic, Amazon and Nokia Music, and the most important mobile phone stores in Spain and Latin America such as the Telefonica-owned Movistar, Vodafone, Orange and Yoigo. The two Madrid-based labels will also coordinate marketing and promotion campaigns to help boost digital sales of their catalogs.

"We at Subterfuge have received some interesting digital distribution proposals, but the BOA Digital project seems to us to be the most reliable, solid and realistic," says Galán. "We have known BOA for more than 15 years. In fact they were our first physical distributors, and their wide national and international experience made us decide on this alliance."

Luaces says, "Subterfuge is one of the most important labels on the Spanish music scene, and had much success in discovering and developing good artists who do not necessarily meet the usual commercial criteria."
