Veteran U.S. producer and songwriter Van Dyke Parks is one of the guest speakers confirmed for the Australian Big Sound music industry summit and showcase event this September, organizers said today. Now in its eighth year, the Brisbane, Queensland-based music confab will take place Sept. 9-11.

Other execs and music industry leaders named to the line-up include Alicen Schneider, VP Music at NBC Universal; Elliot Aronow, co-founder of ad-supported online music label and blog network RCRD LBL; Tim Riley, head of the music team at Activision Blizzard's gaming trailblazer Guitar Hero; and artist managers Glenn Wheatley (CEO Stripe, Talentworks) and John Watson (CEO Eleven: A Music Company).

"We are providing the kind of access to the international music businesses Australians would normally have to travel overseas to get," comments Big Sound executive programmer Stephen Green, who notes that two major speaker announcements will be made in due course.

Big Sound is an initiative of not-for-profit industry body Q Music. It is supported by the Queensland Government, Trade Queensland and Arts Queensland.
