The Hamburg indie edel AG has launched the earMUSIC label for rock and pop releases, with its launch roster including artists ranging from Deep Purple, Status Quo and Chris Rea to UB40, Swing Out Sister and former Suede singer Brett Anderson. The roster is listed on its new Web site at www.ear-music.net.

"The earMUSIC label will be used mainly for releases by established acts, but also for new stars on the international music scene," explained Michael Haentjes, CEO of edel AG in Hamburg. "Last year the team of the international record division, under earMUSIC director Max Vaccaro, created a tight network of artists and partners in the international music industry."

In the coming months, new albums from the rock group Europe and the Marillion singer and guitarist Steve Rothery will be issued on earMUSIC. Edel is releasing an album by the U.S. group Chickenfoot on the new label in June. Chickenfoot comprises Joe Satriani, the ex-Van Halen members Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony as well as Chad Smith, the drummer from the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Says Haentjes, "For edel AG the company's portfolio offers innovative cross-marketing possibilities. For instance, in addition to marketing recording media, the artists also have access to other attractive channels, such as the marketing of earBOOKS - large-format picture books combined with CDs on related topics."
