Taiwanese pop diva A-Mei has been added to the bill for the inaugural F1 Rocks event, held Sept. 24-26 at Fort Canning Park, Singapore.

A-Mei, who has sold over 8 million albums worldwide, according to her label, joins fellow Chinese pop star Jacky Cheung for a one-off double bill performance on Sept. 24 -- the first time the two artists have shared a stage.

The singer is a regional star: her top-selling EMI album "Sisters" (1996) has sold over 1.3 million copies in Taiwan alone, according to her Hong Kong-based label Gold Typhoon Music, which now handles EMI releases in China and Taiwan.

Commenting on A-Mei's addition to the bill, Max Hole, London-based executive VP of Universal Music Group International and president of Universal Music Asia Pacific, said in a statement: "This is musical history -- the first time Jacky Cheung and A-Mei are to perform at the same concert and another first for Singapore. I am delighted that A-Mei will join Jacky to celebrate F1 Rocks Singapore."

Other artists already confirmed to appear during the three-day F1 Rocks Singapore event are Beyonce, Black Eyed Peas, ZZ Top, Simple Minds and N.E.R.D (Billboard.biz. Aug.4). Asian artists Sodagreen and Da Mouth will also perform alongside A-Mei and Jacky Cheung on the opening night (Sept. 24).

The Singapore event launches the F1 Rocks initiative, which will see concerts staged in conjunction with several Formula 1 grands prix around the world in 2010. The shows will be televised through Formula 1's global network of broadcast partners-up to 188 in total.

The event is organised by Universal joint venture All the Worlds. Describing the three-day bill as "east-meets-west," All the Worlds COO Becky Morgan told Billboard.biz that the line-up was specifically designed to "appeal to the local market, which in Singapore is really healthy."

"We've got to make each event special, according to where it is -- the races themselves work that way," Morgan adds.

Speaking to Billboard.biz on behalf of his bandmates, Black Eyed Peas vocalist Taboo said that F1 Rocks was "something that we all wanted to be part of," with the event forming a platform for the band's international fans to "experience the new Black Eyed Peas sound and new show that we've got coming up."

"Singapore has always been a great place for us to tour," Taboo went on to say. "Every time we have a new album we always appreciate the fan base that we have built there."

Tickets for F1 Rocks Singapore are on sale at the F1 Rocks website (www.f1rocks.com). Ticket prices range from $150 Singapore-$210 Singapore ($105-$145). LG Electronics is F1 Rocks' title sponsor.
