U.K. rock band Muse and BRIT award-winning alt-pop act Florence & the Machine lead the nominations for the 2010 U.K. Music Producers Guild (MPG) awards.

Muse is nominated in both the album of the year category for its 2009 album "The Resistence" (Helium 3/Warner Music) and the single of the year category for the "Uprising".

Florence and the Machine, lead by flame-haired singer-songwriter Florence Welch, also has two nominations with her debut studio set "Lungs" (Island/Universal) and the single "Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)" similarly short listed for both the album and single of the year prize.

British rapper Dizzee Rascal takes the third and final shortlist place in the U.K. album of the year category for "Toungue N'Cheek" (Dirtee Skank). Bat For Lashes is the third nominee for single of the year with "Daniel" (Parlophone/EMI).

The MPG awards are an annual event, held in London, recognising a range of music industry professionals including producers, recording engineers and studio staff. MPG members vote for the winners.

Nominees in the U.K. producer of the year category include Jim Abbiss, Paul Epworth, Ethan Johns and Steve Lillywhite. The shortlist for international producer of the year, meanwhile, features T-Bone Burnett, Brendan O'Brien and Rick Rubin.

The awards ceremony takes place at London's Café de Paris on Feb. 11 2010.
