Billboard's annual MIDEM breakfast honored the conference's deal-makers as the event moved into its fourth day.

Speaking at the Carlton Hotel, Billboard editorial director Bill Werde spoke of the upbeat mood at this year's conference despite an expected drop in attendance.

"I can't help but notice how much new business is buzzing," he told a room full of bleary-eyed executives from every sector of the international music business. "Brand partnerships, mobile applications, new online business tools... All I've experienced and heard from everyone is that, yes, it's a little quieter, but business is getting done and in many cases better and faster than it has in a long time."

Werde praised MIDEM director Dominique Leguern and team for the conference program, adding: "Every year I leave intellectually refreshed, my passions for this business and the people in it completely recommitted."

Billboard's MIDEM Dealmakers feature highlighted 15 deals from MIDEM 2009 that drove the business in the past year. The conference concludes Jan. 27.
