U.K. composer Andrew Lloyd Webber is "very interested" in buying the Abbey Road studios, which EMI is reportedly looking to sell.

Lord Lloyd Webber's spokesman confirmed the composer's interest in taking ownership of the historic London studios, the BBC reports.

"He thinks it is vital that the studios are saved for the future of the music industry in the UK," the spokesman said. "Abbey Road has such great facilities, with three major recording studios."

Most of the cast recordings of Lloyd Webber's musicals have been recorded at Abbey Road, including "Jesus Christ Superstar" and the forthcoming "Love Never Dies," his sequel to "The Phantom of the Opera."
