Vivendi CEO Jean-Bernard Levy has been unveiled as the first MidemNet keynote speaker for the opening day of the digital music business conference in Cannes. He will appear on Jan. 22, 2011 at the 12th edition of MidemNet.

According to a statement, Levy will describe Vivendi's ongoing strategy on entertainment content distribution, through multi-platforms and multi-format approaches.

"Vivendi's ambition is to offer the best in content and experience to the digital generation," he said in a statement. "We are situated right at the centre of the content, platforms and networks universe. Through Universal Music Group, Vivendi is the world's music leader, particularly in the area of digital distribution."

Dominique Leguern, director of MIDEM, added: "The international reach of Vivendi, the importance of Universal Music Group and the company's understanding and experience in multi-platform entertainment, promise to make this a truly special keynote address."

MIDEM, the international music market and conference, takes place at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, from Jan. 23 to Jan. 26. MidemNet runs alongside MIDEM and organizers united the events in 2010, so that all delegate passes provided access to both events.
