Australia's Laneway Festival will debut in Asia next year with a date in Singapore.

The city-state's historic Fort Canning Park will host the inaugural Laneway Singapore on January 29. Laneway then heads Down Under for a six-date run. First up is a show in Auckland, New Zealand on Jan. 31, ahead of a national Australian tour which visits Brisbane (Feb. 4), Melbourne (Feb. 5), Sydney (Feb. 6), Adelaide (Feb. 11) and Perth (Feb 12).

Laneway co-founder and promoter Danny Rogers of Lunatic Entertainment and his partner and co-promoter Michael Chugg revealed the news today (Nov. 16) at a media gathering on the top floor of Singapore's Swissotel Stamford hotel.

The pair also unveiled the line-up for Laneway Singapore, which features !!!, Beach House, Deerhunter, Foals, Holy F*** Ladyhawke, Warpaint, Yeasayer and headliners the Temper Trap, who were on hand at today's press conference where they delivered an acoustic mini-set

"The epic party planning has just begun," says Chugg, "and we guarantee an unforgettable day and night of musical discovery and revelry that will be filed under the 'I was there list' for years to come."

The St Jerome's Laneway Festival started life in Melbourne back in 2004 as a boutique fest for lovers of alternative, rock-edged bands. The show soon outgrew its surrounds in Caledonian Lane and in 2006, Laneway's founders Rogers and Jerome Borazio teamed with Chugg Entertainment to expand the brand to Sydney. This year's Australasian bill included Florence and the Machine, Mumford and Sons, the xx and Wild Beasts.

Rogers and Chugg have made no secret of their plans to further develop the Laneway experience in Australia and abroad.
