Republic Records Sponsoring Music For Newtown Online Auction

In the aftermath of the devastating Newtown tragedy last December, Republic Records today announced it will sponsor a "Music For Newtown" auction.  Numerous artists have donated special limited-edition items to the cause in which all proceeds will benefit the "Sandy Hook School Support Fund." The fund supports the long-term recovery needs of the Newtown community.
Donated items so far include two tickets to see Tim McGraw on June 30 in New Jersey, autographed guitars from The Eagles and 3 Doors Down, signed Jack Johnson Vinyl, signed Colbie Caillat songbooks, CDs, a comic book, and another guitar. Also up for auction are a signed drumhead from Of Monsters and Men's 2012 US Fall Tour, a limited-edition tour poster, and more. Autographed CDs have also come from fun., Jewel, Five For Fighting, Owl City, and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.

To be announced items will be available from the likes of Taylor Swift, Gotye, Florence + the Machine, Austin Mahone, and more.
The auction will go live on its own site from March 25 until March 27. Check out the "Music For Newtown" web site, Facebook, and Twitter for more information.
The "Sandy Hook School Support Fund" was set up through Newtown Savings Bank/United Way of Western Connecticut. United Way of Western Connecticut has waived their fees so all the money will go directly to Newtown.  Funds will provide support services to the families and community that have been affected.
Donations are also accepted directly through the site during the auction or by sending "Music For Newtown" a check made out to "Sandy Hook School Support Fund".
The label's Senior Director of Artist Relations Beth Bogdan founded "Music For Newtown" in order to unite the community and give back to all those affected by this event. In order to give back to her hometown, she orchestrated the online auction and spearheaded the charitable cause.
Artist contributions are still being accepted for the auction.
