One of the most head-turning displays at SXSW Interactive is 3M's life-size avatar that brings to mind the Tupac hologram at last year's Coachella festival. Called the Virtual Presenter, the digital avatar interacts with visitors and answers questions via a touch-screen interface. Video is projected onto a clear, silhouette-shaped pane from behind. 3M says the Virtual Presenter can be customized "to speak any language in an engaging, memorable and effective manner -- and never needs a break."

Located on the first floor of the Convention Center, the 3M Virtual Presenter attracts at least a small crowd at all times of the day. It gives advice on which panels people can attend and offers bits of 3M trivia (did you know you're never further than 3 feet away from a 3M product at the home or office?).
