Mnet America Hosting Grammy-Week Party With K-Pop Star Ailee

Annual pre-Grammy parties are almost as much of a tradition as the actual ceremony, and now Mnet America is getting in on the action.

The company will host its first Grammy week party at East West Studios on Feb. 7 with the celebration focused around K-pop's breakthrough year in 2012. The youth enterainment brand for "all things Asian cool" (which hosted this year's first KCON) will also unveil its first ever Mnet America Asian Pop Awards.

The party will be hosted by "Dancing With The Stars" judge Carrie Ann Inaba and television host and actress Suzanne Whang. Foundation, an organization that looks to educate and promote Asian Pacific Islanders for key positions in the media and entertainment world.

K-pop superstar Ailee (who is No. 1 on the K-Pop Hot 100 chart this week with her collaboration track "Shower Of Tears" with BAE CHI GI) will perform at the event. The female soloist racked up two huge solo hits on the chart with "Heaven" (below) and "I'll Show You" since debuting in early 2012.

Ailee (born in Denver) will be honored with the Mnet America Rising Star Award for her accomplishments, which includes wining Best New Female Artist at the 2012 Mnet Asian Music Awards, which are likened as the Korean equivalent to the Grammys.

Season 1 contestants from "The Voice," Connie Lim and Sonia Rao, will also be performing.

YouTube star David Choi will receive an honor too as the recipient of the Mnet American Digital Trend Setter Award.

"2012 was an incredible year for Asian and Asian American pop culture and entertainment, driven by the K-pop explosion breaking into the U.S. mainstream in a big way," says Ted Kim, CEO and president of Mnet America. "From 'Gangnam Style' to Linsanity, the hottest stories of the year have been infused with Asian flavor, and this trend isn't slowing down any time soon."

With top brands (Verizon, Whole Foods, Gibson, Ketel One, Popchips, Planet LA Records, to name a few of the many) and some of America and Korea's top talent, it looks like Mnet may have a added yet another must-attend soiree to the exciting Grammy weekend.
