Sanyo Energy, a subsidiary of Sanyo Electric, on Monday said it would become a sponsor of two AEG venues in Texas.

The move, the first time the company has sponsored a music venue, is being viewed a test. Should it prove successful Sanyo Energy would look to replicate it at other locations in other cities, a company representative said.

52 Sanyo big screen plasma TVs will be provided to the two venues, the Nokia Theatre in Grand Prairie and the Palladium Ballroom in Dallas. AEG owns the Nokia Theatre and manages and books the Palladium.

In return for the televisions Sanyo signage and logos will be placed throughout both.

"The Theatre is such a unique venue and the fact they host such a wide range of productions allows Sanyo Energy to reach a broad audience all year long," Stacy Rupert, marketing manager for Sanyo Energy, said in a statement.
