As part owner of the Nets, Jay-Z has taken it upon himself to handle a very important part of the team's relocation from New Jersey to Brooklyn: the design of the squad's new logo.

The black-and-white logo, which keeps the team's "shield" design intact but adds a "B" inside a tiny basketball, was unveiled on Monday (Apr. 30). Brett Yormark, the team's CEO, has described the logo as "the new badge for Brooklyn." Shirts and other Brooklyn Nets apparel also went on sale today, while official jerseys will be available in September.

The logo isn't the only special gift that Jay-Z, who became part owner of the Nets in 2004, has in store for the team. Last fall, the rapper revealed that he will play a string of concerts next September to open the Barclays Arena in Brooklyn, before the Nets start their first season in the borough in October. One concert has since been set for Sept. 28.
