Megamanager Irving Azoff clearly played the pivotal role in the process that led to NBA legend Phil Jackson becoming the president of the New York Knicks, but he says he has no designs on adding "sports mogul" to his résumé.

The music-­industry dealmaker and manager made headlines when he told Bloomberg News he brokered the deal that installed Jackson in the Knicks' front office. Azoff brought Knicks owner and Madison Square Garden Co. executive chairman James Dolan and Jackson together at his L.A. house in December and attended four meetings with the team and its future coach.
