Urban consumer power hit the festival circuit in a major way in 2013. This summer saw the debut of the BET Experience, a big entry in an arena long claimed by the Essence Festival, which saw record-breaking numbers.
An expansion of the network's highly rated BET Awards, the three-day (June 28-30) BET Experience was christened by some 75,000 attendees at L.A. Live. Presented in association with L.A. Live developer and operator AEG Live, the entertainment and lifestyle festival marked the first time that AEG had staged such an immersive, multiday event at the downtown complex.
