The Shondes are punk rockers, riot grrrls, feminists and political activists from Brooklyn. Their music touches on Jewish traditions and LGBTQ messages, but the group manages it with accessible rock energy and grace to spare. Lead singer Louisa Rachel Solomon and violinist Elijah Oberman formed the band in 2006. "We started with this idea that we could bring together the most heart-wrenching aspects of all the different kinds of music that we liked," Solomon says.
