Original Yes Guitarist Peter Banks Dead At 65

Peter Banks, who served as an original guitarist for the influential prog rock band Yes, passed away in his London home last Thursday (March 7) from heart failure at the age of 65.

An official statement was released by the official site of Banks' other endeavor, 70s rockers Flash.

Banks, born in England in 1947, played guitar with Yes for their first two albums (1969's "Yes" and 1970's "Time and a Word"), before departing over creative differences. He went on to play in the similarly-minded prog band Flash until 1973. He continued to play music until his death (working on the live collection "Flash – In Public"), as he was reportedly found after failing to attend a recording session.

"We are deeply saddened to learn about the passing of fellow bandmate and founding Yes member," said Yes in an official statement. "He was a huge piece of the fabric that made Yes what it is, and our thoughts, sincere condolences, and prayers are with him and his family. Peter, we shall miss you greatly."
