As expected, Australian digital rights management company Destra Corp. yesterday launched what it is billing as Australia's largest legal online music store (Bulletin, Nov. 7). Almost 100,000 a la carte tracks are available at DestraMusic.com, with prices starting at A$0.99 (73 cents). The tracks, offered in the Windows Media format, are available through online retail parters Sanity, HMV, JBHiFi and ChaosMusic.

EMI and Festival Mushroom are among labels that have licensed repertoire to the service. Domenic Carosa, CEO of Melbourne-based Destra, expects other majots to be on board by mid-2004, increasing the number of tracks available to 500,000.

Users can burn the copy-protected tracks to CD three times and can transfer them to portable devices, according to Destra.
