A&R vet due to leave in March

Muff Winwood is to retire at the end of March as senior VP of A&R at Sony Music U.K. and managing director of S2, Bulletin has learned.

Winwood, 60, joined Sony (formerly CBS) U.K. in 1978 as director of A&R, working with the Clash, Sade, Adam & the Ants, Wham! and others. In 1991, he became MD of S2, helping build the careers of Jamiroquai, Des'ree and others.

Before joining Sony, Winwood worked in A&R at Island and produced such acts as Sparks and Dire Straits. He began his career in the '60s as bassist for the Spencer Davis Group.
