Facility manager John Friedmann, executive director of the Jackson County Sports Complex Authority in Kansas City, Mo., died Jan. 9 at Truman Medical Center in the city. Friedmann, 71, had been in critical condition since being shot Dec. 28 in what police believe was an attempted carjacking.

Friedmann had been executive director of the Authority since 1990. He oversaw such Kansas City venues as Kemper Arena, Kauffman Stadium and Arrowhead Stadium. Part of the International Assn. of Assembly Managers since 1962, he was the body's eldest active member.

A wake will be held Thursday, and the funeral Friday at the O'Halloran & Murphy Funeral Home in St. Paul, Minn.
