Ronald Isley is the latest artist to enter the world of fashion. The Grammy Award winner has partnered with Tendler Furs in New York for the "Ronald Isley aka Mr. Biggs Fur Collection." The inaugural 50-piece men's collection debuts Feb. 23-26 at the U.S. apparel convention MAGIC in Las Vegas. Isley will be on hand to help launch his line.
The three-year agreement is the singer's first fashion-oriented endorsement.
"For me, it has always been important to maintain a unique style," Isley says. "If you look back at old Isley Brothers albums, you'll see us in chinchilla. This was long before rappers discovered fur."
"Mr. Isley has always been a huge fan of fur, and he demonstrates that by wearing them in concerts and public appearances," says Tendler director of sales/marketing Victoria Bruni. "Plus, he always had a strong desire to create his own line. So, the synergy with Tendler was natural and organic."
According to Isley, the collection will reflect his own "sophisticated edge," encompassing his impeccable taste
and flair for the dramatic. Thus, the collection will boast a range of furs including chinchilla, sable, fox, coyote, rex rabbit and mink. To ensure that a wide range of consumers will embrace the line, suggested retail prices will range from $795 to $25,000 for each item.
Isley enters the fur business at a time when fur is making a huge comeback. According to Tendler CEO Larry Marchfeld, the men's fur business, particularly in urban markets, has increased during the past three years. "Currently, 25% of our business comes from our men's line," he says. "The timing for this partnership could not be better."
