Aerosmith will kick off a 40-city North American tour in support of its 14th studio album, "Honkin' on Bobo," tentatively due in late March from Columbia.

The tour begins March 11 at the United Spirit Arena in Lubbock, Texas, and will play indoor and outdoor venues in the U.S. and Canada through June. Opening act will be Cheap Trick. Clear Channel Entertainment will promote and produce the outing, under the direction of Bruce Kapp, senior VP of touring.

Last year, Aerosmith grossed almost $50 million on a co-headlining tour with Kiss. On its own in 2002, Aerosmith took in $39 million. The band is booked by Monterey Penisula Artists and managed by HK Management.
