In conjunction with NARM, the Nashville-based Americana Music Assn. (AMA) will release a $1.98 CD sampler on Aug. 4. Ryko Distribution will handle the project.

The low-priced album, which will contain 14 or 15 tracks by major-label and independent Americana artists, was designed to emulate two bestselling $1.98 samplers produced in 2001 and 2003 by NARM and the Blues Music Assn.

AMA executive director J.D. May says the organization has designated September as "Americana Music Month." The CD, which is the trade organization's first retail release, will be a key part of a monthlong promotion of Americana releases.

Labels can submit tracks for consideration between Feb. 17-April 20. A five-person panel of retailers and journalists will review submissions and select the final tracks.
