Clear Channel Radio and Sony Music are pairing to launch "Radio Star," a talent contest that begins on Feb. 16. Developed by Clear Channel's Premiere Radio Networks, the competition will incorporate approximately 50 Clear Channel stations, and will include a one-hour weekly radio show hosted by "American Idol's" Ryan Seacrest and radio personality Elvis Duran.

Contestants will submit entries via a "Radio Star" Web site, and participating stations will select one local act to present to a panel of Sony Music judges. After a 14-week talent search, the panel will choose acts from the pool of submissions to present during the radio show. Over the course of 10 weeks, online fan voting will whittle the list to three finalists. The winner, chosen by Sony judges, will be awarded a label deal with the major and will appear at select Clear Channel concerts, including holiday events presented by New York's Z100 and L.A.'s KIIS-FM.

Wrigley's Winterfresh chewing gum will be the exclusive sponsor of the contest.
