An EMI representative declined to comment on whether Virgin Records president/COO Roy Lott is preparing to leave his post. Lott is still working in the label's New York offices, according to sources. The New York Post yesterday ran a story stating that he is leaving.

Many of Lott's responsibilities, including marketing, were handed over to Randy Miller when the former Jive executive came aboard as executive VP of marketing at the beginning of the year.

Like many labels, Virgin is suffered from weak sales. Its highest-charting album on the current Billboard 200 is A Perfect Circle's "Thirteenth Step," which stands at No. 154; however, the label expects a higher debut on this week's chart for Courtney Love's "America's Sweetheart." Spring releases from Virgin include new albums from N.E.R.D. and Janet Jackson.

A call to Lott was not returned by deadline.
