As expected, Universal South is to release an album of songs "inspired by" Mel Gibson's film "The Passion of the Christ."

The album, due April 6, will feature an eclectic lineup of artists, such as Dolores O'Riordan of the Cranberries, Leon Russell, Brit pop singer Lee Ryan, newcomer Holly Williams and a duet between Jessi Colter and son Shooter Jennings.

The soundtrack album to "The Passion of the Christ" streets Feb. 24 from Sony and Integrity Music. The film opens in theaters Feb. 25, distributed by Newmarket Films.
