There's been a shakeup in the Texas concert-promotion scene, as Brad Russo, former Clear Channel Entertainment (CCE) booker in Austin, moves to Houston to rejoin Louis Messina, president of TMG/AEG Live.

Russo was first hired 10 years ago by Messina when the latter was president of PACE Concerts (later acquired by SFX, which became CCE). "Anybody that can show up in my office for an interview with a blue blazer admiral's jacket on is my kinda guy," Messina tells Billboard.biz. "He is an exciting addition to what we're doing here."

Russo is equally enthused. "Louis is the one who brought me into this crazy business, and it's an absolute thrill to be back on the same team with him," he says. "I'm fired up and energized. This is gonna be a lot of fun, which is why I got into this business in the first place."

Russo is the latest addition to the TMG/AEG staff, which previously brought on talent buyers/promoters Danny Eaton, formerly of 462 in Dallas, and Ali Harnell, formerly of CCE in Nashville. "It's all part of bringing music to the people," says Messina.

Meanwhile, Mandy Strudler has been named VP of booking, Central Texas, for CCE Music's South region, replacing Russo in Austin. Her primary responsibilities will include booking the Backyard and Austin Music Hall in Austin, the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in San Antonio and all other arena and theater activity in the San Antonio market. Strudler will report to Bob Roux, executive VP for CCE Music, South region.

Strudler was recently CCE's primary promoter at non-club venues in most of Louisiana; Biloxi, Miss; and Beaumont, Texas. Prior to this, she assisted Roux in booking arenas and amphitheaters throughout Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi.
