Andre Finkenwirth, executive VP of BMG Germany/Switzerland/Austria (G/S/A), has "stepped down" from his Munich-based role, according to the company. No reason was given for his exit.

Maarten Steinkamp, president, BMG International and G/S/A, will take responsibility for all of Finkenwirth's operational duties, including overseeing Switzerland and Austria. Steinkamp recently stepped in to fill the void left by the departure of BMG G/S/A president Thomas Stein. He also added responsibility for BMG Latin last fall, after Rodolfo Lopez-Negrete split with the firm.

Finkenwirth assumed his most recent role with BMG in October 2002, after a stint as chairman of German broadcaster Hot Networks, where he was responsible for interactive European TV stations.

Finkenwirth originally joined the German major in 1993 as a strategic planning advisor; he was named CFO for G/S/A a year later. He joined Hamburg-based indie Edel Music as COO in 2000.

According to BMG, Finkenwirth will remain with the company in the short term to handle a variety of projects, including the interim representation of BMG on the board of the German IFPI branch.
