Sen. Russ Feingold, D-Wisc., sent a letter to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) yesterday (March 9) calling on the the agency to begin a probe of Òpay for playÓ schemes at radio.

Sen. Russ Feingold, D-Wisc., sent a letter to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) yesterday (March 9) calling on the the agency to begin a probe of "pay for play" schemes at radio.

Feingold is the sponsor of pending legislation that calls for an increase in local and independently produced radio content, as well as greater competition in radio programming, advertising and concert promotion.

The letter follows lobbying on the issue by the Recording Academy, the Recording Artists Coalition and the American Federation of Radio & Television Artists.
